My Signature Pieces

For a quick look into my brain and writing below are my favourites.

A pirate captain stares gleefully at all that he has accomplished.

If you have a a bit more time on your hands, here is the first act to a three act story about trans life.

Exploration of a new mechanic that would work within Legends of Runeterra.

The character's depression manifests as a monster forcing them into isolation. A character I would love to put into a game one day.

Making characters is my favourite aspect within writing. Prior to video game writing I drew dresses and wanted to work in fashion; my interest came from how clothes can tell a story through a scuff on a sleeve, a missing button or the colour of trim. That transposed into making fully fleshed out character that a player can inhabit.

Games Design married to Narrative is a perfect match. This is something I adore to explore in making mechanics for various things I enjoy. I find that actions in any game have to work narratively harmoniously or the game loses a lot of legitimacy.

My draw to video games which is almost exclusive within creative genres is the fact the player drives the narrative. I want every player to have an individual experience through choices within their story where two people who played the same game can both love it and have entirely different emotions associated with it.

Dialogue between characters that exclude the main character presents a different challenge; to delve into their psyche and who they are without telling the audience/player directly. This is what I look to achieve.

Since I was a kid I would look forward to English purely to write creatively, to draw from my experiences and express them on paper so I could properly understand them. I have always written in a multitude of genres as I find that any story can be told within any genre as long as characters are at the heart.

I have found Dungeons and Dragons (DND) to be a fantastic tool to explore level design, enemy balance, creative solutions and story telling devices while receiving feedback on what to improve. Also, it's a tonne of fun.
