This collection of stories is what I have unofficially dubbed "The Smile" collection. I gave myself the challenge of writing three completely different short stories that all end in a smile (I also found myself carrying this ending on in a couple of other works finding it very effective and versatile). The trickiness in a smile is it can show genuine happiness or awkwardness in a social situation, alternatively happiness may not come from a good place. So giving myself this exercise was a great exploration.
